Ban Nongphodphet Wittiya School, Korat, C. Thailand
A 90 minute drive outside the city of Korat, the regional capital of Isaan and at the end of 5 miles of a bumpy, dirt road is the tiny school of Ban Nongphodphet Wittiya. The new Principal is an old friend of GHF and invited us to visit recently.
The whole village, including parents and grandparents came out to welcome us with traditional Isaan dancing. For many, it was the first time for them to meet "falangs" (foreigners).
This area is very poor & the school is an old beat-up building. 95 students attend here under the age of 10. GHF made a donation of 20,000thai baht for a new computer and we hope to do more in the future.

FOUNDATION CREATION
Lou Gallipeau and Andy Harris first met on a golf trip to Thailand in November 2002. Their shared experiences on that trip led them to decide to do something to help the poor and disadvantaged Thai youth. The outcome is the Gallipeau Harris Foundation, founded in February, 2003 and incorporated as a nonprofit organization in the Commonwealth of Virginia (US) in August of the same year. The Foundation was classified as a 501(c) (3) tax exempt organization by the IRS in January 2004.
MISSION AND VISION
The purpose of the Foundation is to provide educational opportunities and resources for poor, underprivileged children in Thailand. The Foundation strives to be a recognized leader in empowering and helping the youth of Thailand achieve their dreams through education and learning. |
